2-Row to 8-Row Configurations

The number of coil rows determines the heat transfer capacity and air-side pressure drop. RefriCore manufactures all standard row configurations, and our engineering team can advise on the optimal row count for your application.

2-Row Coils

Low capacity applications. Preheat coils, reheat coils, and light cooling duty. Low air-side pressure drop.

4-Row Coils

Standard commercial cooling and heating. The most common configuration for FCU and medium AHU applications.

6-Row Coils

High-capacity cooling for large AHUs. Common in hospitals, data centers, and high-latent-load applications.

8-Row Coils

Maximum heat transfer capacity. Large central air handling plants, district cooling systems, and industrial process air conditioning.

What information do I need to provide for an AHU or FCU coil quote?

For a chilled water or hot water coil: face dimensions (width × height), number of rows, tube OD and pitch, fin pitch, connection sizes and positions, design water temperature, air velocity, and quantity. For DX coils: add refrigerant type and system capacity. For replacement coils, dimensions and photos of the original coil are sufficient.

Can you supply a replacement coil for an AHU brand we can't get parts for anymore?

Yes — this is one of our most common requests. Send us the original coil dimensions, connection positions, and row count. We'll manufacture an exact dimensional replacement. Bring an old coil for measurement if needed. Most replacement coils are significantly cheaper than OEM spare parts.

How many rows do I need for my application?

Row count depends on the required heat transfer duty, entering air and water temperatures, face velocity, and allowable air-side pressure drop. As a general guide: 2-row for light heating, 4-row for standard cooling, 6-row for high-capacity or high-latent-load cooling, 8-row for maximum capacity. Our engineering team can advise based on your specific load requirements.

Can you manufacture coils with stainless steel tubes for food or pharmaceutical applications?

Yes. We manufacture AHU coils in SS304 and SS316 tube for food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and other applications requiring hygienic or chemically resistant construction. Stainless steel header options are also available.

What connection types are available?

We can supply coils with copper sweat connections, BSP threaded connections, NPT threaded connections, or flanged connections. Header material is typically copper, with stainless steel available for special applications. Please specify your required connection type and size when requesting a quote.
